Junior Rugby World Championships move from Stellenbosch
The remaining matches of the ongoing IRB Junior World Championship 2012 are to be played at the stadiums at Cape Town and Newlands, with no more matches taking place at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.
The South African Rugby Union (SARU) and the International Rugby Board (IRB) made the joint decision due to adverse weather conditions which have contributed to the badly-damaged surface of the Stellenbosch stadium.
The Newlands stadium hosts both semifinals and the fifth-place semifinal on 17 June, and the third-place playoff and IRB Junior World Championship final on 22 June.
Matches at the University of Western Cape Stadium in Cape Town remain unchanged while all kick-off times of the relocated matches remain as originally scheduled.
The three-week tournament, which began on 4 June, is the under-20 version of the Rugby World Cup and is considered the second most important annual event for rugby’s governing body, the IRB.
