Australia funds training of Ghana public service

The Australian government is funding a training programme for senior Ghanaian public servants.

Titled “Building a Better Workforce” the programme is designed to enhance human resources management skills. The 46 officials enrolled in the course come from Ghana's ministries for education, health, tourism, and food and agriculture.

The two-week seminar, which began in Accra on 25 June, has been organised by the Public Services Commission (PSC) in collaboration with the Australian Public Services Commission.

The Australian High Commissioner to Ghana William Billy Williams said that Australia's support for the programme was part of his country’s commitment to strengthen diplomatic, investment and trade links between the two nations.

The seminar follows the recent creation by the Australian Trade Commission of a trade commissioner post based in Accra. The newly-appointed commissioner Gordon Chakaodza will be responsible for developing ties between Australia and west Africa.
