Existence Sculpture Exhibition

29 March-10 April 2012. This exhibition, entitled Existence Sculpture, displays the works by the famous Kenyan sculptor Kevin Oduor.

In this series of conceptual three dimensional installations, made of fiber glass, metal and found objects, Oduor investigates the form of daily life objects, which make visitors question existence in nature. This exhibition stimulates a series of questions and reflections on human beings and life in general, such as what makes a thing look like that thing? Is it its form, its material or the human perception?

Odour has worked as a sculptor over the past 20 years. He began his artistic career as a painter after high school. His great passion for arts started after he met the artist Ruth Schaffner, who introduced him in the world of art. In his works he is inspired by nature and animals. Among his most famous sculptures is a life size buffalo, displayed at the Meru National Park, which commemorates the eradication of an epidemic disease, which recently affected buffalos and cows.
